Lubarski, Stanley “Unk” (1927-2013)

Stanley Lubarski, 86, of Strandquist, MN, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the Karlstad Health Care Center.

Stanley, “Unk”, was born on June 30, 1927, at home on the family farm, the son of Peter and Mary (Cieklinski) Lubarski. He was a lifelong resident of Wright Township in Marshall County.

He attended Lindstrom Country School to the 8th Grade. In 1945 he entered the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving as an aircraft mechanic while stationed in Japan. After being discharged, he returned home to farm with his father. In 1960 he purchased the farm, and with his brother Edmund, continued small grains and dairy.

Stanley also worked off the farm for the Alvarado Oil Co. from 1968-1975. When Edmund’s health failed, Stanley returned to farming fulltime. In 1982, he sold the farm to his nephew, and continued to help on the farm. From 1987-1994, Stanley was employed at Terog Mfg. in Stephen, MN.

After retiring, Stanley enjoyed doing yard work, gardening, playing cards, and visiting with family, friends, and life. He was a 27 year member of Karlstad American Legion Post #445.
In 2010, Stanley moved to the Karlstad Health Care Center, where he resided until his passing.

He is survived by his sister, Theresa Voytilla, of Karlstad, by his close family who he thought of as his children; nephews: Richard (Joanne) Lubarski, Cedar, MN; Conrad (Merece) Lubarski, Argyle, MN; Greg (Sheryl) Lubarski, Strandquist; nieces: Betty (Dale) Bedard, Apple Valley, MN, Joan (Wayne) Krantz, Karlstad; Carole (Gayle) Stoltman, Argyle; and Lori Ann (Ellery) Hoch, Wolf Point, MT. and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Frank, Floyd, Roman, Edmund, and Peter, and special sister-in-law, Mary Ann Lubarski.
