Jerome Lund, 71, of Holt, MN passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 22, 2014 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Greg Schram Officiating. Burial will be held at Landstad Cemetery at Gatzke, MN at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Prayer Service on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Jerome “Tubby” Edward Lund was born to Edwin and Florence (Ruud) Lund on February 7, 1943 in Thief River Falls, MN. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. He grew up in the Gatzke area and graduated from Middle River High School in 1961. He attended vocational school in Thief River Falls for auto body. He worked in auto body for short time after graduating along with a few construction jobs. In 1963, Tubby started with Arctic Cat along with racing and modeling. He spent majority of his career in the engineering department “surrounded by round heads” and continued employment until the Fall of 2014 when he retired.
Jerome was united in marriage to Marlene Tuura on May10, 1969 at First Lutheran Church in Middle River, MN. To this union 3 children were born. The family lived a short time in Thief River Falls before moving to rural Holt.
He served on the township board, was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Ringbo and currently a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Thief River Falls. He enjoyed watching all the activities that his kids participated in throughout high school. Most recently watching his grandchildren grow and participate in all their activities. He loved learning more about swimming, wrestling and hockey which he wasn’t as familiar with. His family meant the world to him.
Jerome is survived by his wife, Marlene; children Jeremy of Moose Lake, Ericka (Corey) Peterson of New Prague, and Melissa (Ben) Lindquist of Perham; grandchildren Paige, Payton and Parker Peterson, Rylee, Rowdie and Rorey Lindquist; Sisters and Brother-in-laws Janice and Wayne Larson of Gatzke and Ann Tuura of Thief River Falls.
Jerome is preceded in death by parents, Father and Mother-in-law Arne and Ione Tuura, Brother-in-law Michael Tuura.
