Russell Larson, 83, Stephen, Minnesota passed away at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren, Minnesota early Friday morning, February 8, 2008.
Russell Grant Larson was born September 24, 1924 in Big Woods Township, Marshall County, Minnesota to Edgar and Laura (Melo) Larson. Russell moved with his family to Stephen in November of 1937 and graduated from Stephen High School in 1941. After completing his education Russell and his brother, Amos, began farming for their father.
On October 23, 1949 Russell married Guna Anderson at Crookston, Minnesota. The couple retired from farming in 1985. Guna passed away on April 20, 1992. Russell enjoyed traveling and spent many winters at Alamo, Texas and in Costa Rica. He has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center for the past two months.
Russell attended Our Savior’s Free Lutheran Church in Argyle, Minnesota. He served on the board of the Farmers Elevator and the Florian Park Board for many years.
Family members include a daughter, Tanya (Glen) Bergeron, Argyle; a son, Grady (Kristy) Larson, Mayville, WI; five granddaughters, Kimberli Larson, Hartford, WI, Lindsey Bergeron, Fargo, ND, Emily (Charles) Gooselaw, Fargo, Abbey Bergeron, Avon, CO and Christen Bergeron, Duluth, MN; a brother, Amos (Mercedes “Bonnie”) Larson, Stephen; sisters, Leatrice (Charles) Field, Stephen, Virginia Locke, Beaverton, OR and Yvonne (Don) Overfield, Thayne, WY; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Guna; an infant brother, Clayton, brother, Roger; and sisters, Anita Whalen and Shirley White.
