Vernon Thomas Larson, 67, died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at his home in Tacoma, Wash.
Funeral services were Monday, July 23, at Green Funeral Home Chapel in Thief River Falls, Minn. Burial was at the Holt Cemetery in Holt, Minn.
He was born on June 18, 1934, to Irvin and Donella “Dolly” (Taylor) Larson in Holt, Minn. He attended rural school and was raised in the Holt area. He served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Albuquerque, N.M.
He married Mary Ann Tarpley in 1955. Following his honorable discharge, he worked at the paper mill in International Falls, Minn.
He married Dottie Becher in 1968 and worked for several farms in North Dakota and Northwest Minnesota. He was employed at Armour’s in St. Paul, Minn. until he moved to Kimball. He farmed in Kimball County for 23 years. He moved to Tacoma, Wash. in February of 1995, where he has since resided.
He is survived by his mother, Dolly Larson of Thief River Falls, Minn; his children Thomas Larson of Santa Rosa, Calif., Cheryl Cox of Dayton, Ohio, Robert Larson of Longmont, Colo., Brenda Marquez of Kansas City, Mo., DeAnna Villarreal of Kansas City, Mo., Pamela Brodie of Marquette, Iowa, Dawn Block of Tacoma, Wash., Michael Larson of Gering, Neb., Todd Larson of Tacoma, Wash., Deborah Larson of Tacoma, Wash.; former wife Dottie Larson of Elk River, Minn.; step-daughter, Brenda Blaine of Elk River, MN.; 20 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Irvin; first wife, Mary (Tarpley) Marold; and one daughter, Sandra.
