Gordon Larson, Holt, MN, age 76, died on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls, MN surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services were Monday, May 6, 2013 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt, MN with Rev. Del Moen officiating. Burial followed at the Holt Cemetery.
Visitation with a prayer service Sunday, May 5, at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, and on Monday at Nazareth Lutheran Church.
Gordon David Larson was born on March 13, 1937 at home on the farm near Holt, MN the son of Irvin and Donella (Taylor) Larson. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Gordon attended country school and graduated from Newfolden High School in 1955.
On August 7, 1971, Gordon was united in marriage to Rheta Helgenset at St. John Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. They made their home on the Larson family farm in Holt Township, and to this union two children were born: Lisa and Lucas.
Gordon enjoyed softball, bowling, hunting, fishing, “going for a ride”, spending time with his family and friends; and was lovingly known as “Gordie Good Guy.”
Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Holten and son, Lucas Larson; two granddaughters, Masen and Claire; siblings, Margery O’Brien, Roger Larson, and Donna Larson; sister-in-law, Dorothy “Dottie” Larson; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Gordon is preceded in death by his wife, Rheta on January 3, 2011; parents; and brother, Vernon Larson.
