Lloyd Myron Larson was born on September 29, 1920 in Mud Lake Township, MN, now known as Lake Agazzi Wildlife Refuge, the son of Ole and Matilda (Furr) Larson. He was baptized and confirmed at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Holt. He attended school in Holt, MN, through the 8th grade and was a member of the 4-H Club, where he won may awards with his cattle. He farmed with his father until 1940, when he moved to Tacoma, WA; he returned in 1943, and resumed farming near Holt.
On November 25, 1943, Thanksgiving Day, he was united in marriage to Harryet Irene Lufkin in the Holt parsonage. In the summer of 1947, the couple purchased the present farm in Excel Township. While farming he worked at Garrison, ND and Finland, MN. He moved his family to Massena, NY and later to Niagara Falls, NY. While there, he worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway. They returned to Minnesota in 1961; Lloyd worked at Babbit, MN, returned to Holt and then Kenmare, ND, working on the missile silo. They moved back to the farm in 1966 and then to Buhl, MN, where he worked in the taconite mines. They moved to the farm near Holt in 1967, where he has since resided.
He was an active and life member of Holt Nazareth Lutheran Church. Lloyd and Harryet were charter members of the new church in 1993. Twice, Lloyd and Harryet were elected Outstanding Senior Citizens to represent Holt at the Warren County Fair. Lloyd was a member of the 49ers Union for 50 years and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He also served for six years as President of the Keenagers Club of Holt, an organization he enjoyed being a part of. His second love after Harryet, was fishing, especially ice fishing. He had the love of telling tales longer then the fish he caught. Lloyd was very happy to have traveled to Alaska four times. He liked to play cards and enjoyed entertaining and visiting.
