LeRoy Korynta, 70, Warren, MN, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at his home.
LeRoy Lawrence Korynta was born on June 22, 1936 at Grand Forks, ND to Agnes (Anderson) and Leo Korynta. He grew up on a farm south of Ardoch, ND. Graduated from Minto High School in 1955. On September 2, 1958, he was united in marriage to Janice Eisbrener at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ardoch. They lived in Grand Forks until February 1968 when they moved to Warren. LeRoy was Parts Manager at the Marshall County Co-op and then General Manager until April 1999.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and East Grand Forks Eagles, former member of the Warren Lions and Warren Senior Club. LeRoy enjoyed farming and all aspects of raising crops, which was evidenced in his large gardens that he grew with his friend Bob. He would share his produce with family and friends. LeRoy learned a new craft in his retirement years, yard art. He could sit hours in his work shop, creating works of art, only to hang them in his garage. If you were one of the lucky ones, he would give you of piece of art for you to display. Monday nights in the winter was set aside for his friends and the weekly card games. LeRoy enjoyed going to rummage sales and finding many treasures. His basement is full of many toys, tractors, cars, horses and all sorts of animals. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren would light up his eyes. He was very proud of all of them.
LeRoy is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janice, 5 sons; Lawrence (Larry) and wife Jenny of Jamestown, ND, Wayd of East Grand Forks, MN, Darryl and wife Denise of Chapel Hill, NC, Bryan and wife Laura of Kingsley, IA and Gregory (Greg) of San Antonio, TX. 3 daughters, Dawn of Warren, MN, Mary Frances, husband Rick Ennis of Durham, NC and Andrea (Andy) and husband James (Jim) Orbich of Pittsboro, NC, 15 grandsons, 7 granddaughters, 2 great-grandsons, 1 step granddaughter, 1 step grandson, 2 sisters Arlene (Fred) Mondry of Ardock, ND and LeAnn (William “Buzz”) Baldwin of St. Thomas, ND, 2 brothers, Ardell (Ina Jane) of Grand Forks, ND and Ronald (Arlys) of Oslo, MN and several nieces and nephews, cousins and aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes and Leo and nephew Todd Korynta.
