Kasprowicz, Anton Alfred “Tony” (1914-2005)

Anton “Tony” Alfred Kasprowicz, 90, died at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls on Monday, April 11, 2005.

Funeral services were held at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Karlstad, with Father Jeyapaul and Deacon Courtney officiating. Casket bearers included Matthew Erickson, Michael Erickson, Jonathon Sollund, Alan Truscinski, LeRoy Truscinski and Rodney Truscinski. Interment was held at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Florian.

Anton Alfred Kasprowicz, the son of the late Walenty and Kathern (Kujawa) Kasprowicz, was born on May 17, 1914, in Wright Township of Marshall Co., near Florian. He attended school and grew to manhood there and was baptized and confirmed at the Assumption Catholic Church in Florian.

“Tony” worked at the Swift Packing Co. in South St. Paul, and on Sept. 6, 1958, was united in marriage to Kathleen Schrieber at St. Paul. The couple resided at Inver Grove Heights for six years, before moving to the family farm in Wright Township, near Florian.

“Tony” worked at Arctic Enterprises in Thief River Falls until retiring in 1979. He continued to farm until 1989 when he moved into Oakwood Homes in Karlstad. He was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church of Karlstad, and formerly of the Assumption Catholic Church in Florian. He enjoyed deer hunting and card playing, along with gardening, canning, and cooking and making homemade wine. He especially loved planting potatoes and peddling them.

He is survived by two sons: Raymond (Renae), of Strandquist and Anthony of Karlstad; four daughters, Christine Dupre of Minnetrista, Colleen Erickson and Sherry (Doug) Simon, both of Cottage Grove, and Darlene (Arlyn) Sollund of Bemidji; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Truscinski of Greenbush.; one brother, Ludwig; sister-in-law, Antionette Kasprowicz of Warren.; in addition to several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Lillian, Maryann, and Angeline, and four brothers: Peter, Joseph, James, and Felix.
