Jerik, Alice Marie (Kucera) (1916-2015)

Alice Marie Kucera was born in Salol, MN to Frank and Josephine (Triske) Kucera. She had one brother, William, born in 1907. Sometime after 1920 the Kucera family moved to Tabor, MN, where Alice went to country school. Living with his grandparents in Tabor at that time and also attending country school was Charles Jerik. He and Alice were married on October 13, 1938. They made their home near Warren, where they were engaged in farming. They were members of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Alice was actively involved with Ladies Aid.

Five daughters were born to this marriage, Darlyne, Sharon, Lois, Susan, and Doris.

After her husband passed away in 1997, Alice moved to an apartment in Warren. She lived there until 2010, when she suffered a stroke, necessitating her move to Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks.


Alice M. Jerik passed away on July 15, 2015, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, at the age of 99.

Alice Marie Kucera was born June 24, 1916, in Salol, MN to Frank and Josephine (Triske) Kucera. She attended country school in the Tabor, MN area. On October 13th, 1938, she was united in marriage to Charles F. Jerik. They made their home near Warren, MN. where they were engaged in farming, raising cattle, hogs, and chickens. They belonged to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and was actively involved with the Ladies Aide.

Alice loved Christmas. Each year, the children and grandchildren came to her house for great company, excellent food, and especially the little gift bags she made up for each grandchild which were filled with Christmas candy, homemade popcorn balls, and a dollar. She made that a tradition we all loved.

After Charles passed away, on May 13th 1997, Alice moved to an apartment in Warren, where she lived until she suffered a stroke in September of 2010, after which she moved to Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks.

Left to mourn her passing are her children, Darlyne (Don) Votava of Warren, Sharon (Robert) Eichhorst of Thompson, ND, Lois Dodds of Wilsonville, OR, and Susan (Jerome) Weber of Thompson; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Alice was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Weiland; grandchildren, Charlotte and Joseph Weiland; her parents; and a brother, William Kucera.

Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, July 18, 2015, at 10:30 AM, in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Warren, MN.

Visitation: One hour prior to Mass.

Interment: Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Warren.
