Bert A. Hvidsten, 89, Lakota, died Sunday, April 3, 1994, in Aneta (ND) Good Samaritan Center. Bert was born Feb 2, 1905, the son of Olaf and Anna (Nelson) Hvidsten in Stephen, Minnesota, where he attended schools. He attended Interstate Business College in Fargo and operated a grocery store in Stephen for several years.
He married Irene Felt on October 8, 1933, in Crookston. From 1937 to 1963, they lived in Neche, where he operated Neche Implement and farmed. They moved to Lakota in 1969. He operated Lakota Implement for many years until his retirement. Irene Hvidsten died January 15, 1972. He married Yvonne Brown in 1978. Yvonne Hivdsten died in 1980. He lived in the Pioneer Rest Home in Bathgate, ND, and later in the Aneta Center. He served as the mayor of Neche and on the Neche School Board.
He is survived by sons: B. Allen, Lakota; and John, Golden Valley, HD; daughters: Carol (Mrs. James) Stockton, Neche; Judy (Mrs. Bert) Warner, Pembina, ND; and Kay (Mrs. Melvin) Stark, Cavalier, ND; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Margaret Lundeen, Stephen; Theresa (Mrs. Arnold) Hamness; and Bertha Brown, both of Grand Forks; and Hilda (Mrs. Stanton) Thorson, St. Paul.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Ione; and brothers, Alfred, Carl, Nels, Andrew and Torkel.
