Earl Hvidsten was born on Nov. 13, 1924 at Warren, Minn. He passed away at his home in Stephen, Minn., on Sept. 16, 1989 at the age of 64. Mr. Hvidsten was a life long resident of the Stephen community.
On June 3, 1945 at Stephen, Minn., he was united in marriage to Gloria Abel. They farmed for a living. Mr. Hvidsten was mayor of Stephen for eight years. He was one of the founders and president of the Farmers Grain Co. He was past president of the Stephen Lions Club and was also zone chairman and deputy district governor of the Lions. He held several offices and was very active in the Red River Valley Potato Growers Assn., was chairman of the Education Fund at U.M.C., served on the Alumni Board at Concordia College, held a trading membership in the Minnesota Grain Exchange and was one of the founders of the Curling Club in Stephen, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Mollie Hvidsten, one daughter and one sister.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Gloria and two children: Dr. Lynne Hvidsten of Minneapolis, Minn., and Tim of Stephen, Minn. Also surviving are four grandchildren, one sister and two brothers: Jean Eidsmoe of White Bear Lake, Minn.; Ralph, of Stephen, Minn.; and Gordon of Fargo, N. Dak.
