Gloria Hvidsten, 78, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2003 with her family at her side at the Valley Memorial Home – Woodside Village in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Gloria Lenore Abel was born on June 27, 1924 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Harrison and Irene (Wallin) Abel. She spent her early years in Minneapolis before moving to the Argyle – Stephen, Minnesota area as a young girl. On June 3, 1945, she was united in marriage to Earl Hvidsten. They made their home in Stephen. Earl died on September 16, 1989.
She was a life long member of the First Lutheran Church in Stephen and the Naomi Circle. She was also a member of the Monday Study Club, Athena Club and the Sweet Adelines.
Gloria loved music. She was an excellent homemaker who enjoyed sewing and cooking. Gloria had a gift for writing.
Left to mourn her passing are her two children; Dr. Lynne Hvidsten of Minneapolis, MN and Tim (Cheryll) Hvidsten of Stephen, MN. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Jay, Peter, Caroline and Chelsie, brothers, Rev. John (Ruby) Abel of Hitterdal, MN, William (Dorothy) Naylor of Willmar, MN and Winston (Connie) Naylor of St. Louis, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earl, daughter, Marva and sister, Catherine.
