Funeral services were held Friday, November 17 at 2:00 p.m. for Mrs. Alfred (Mollie) Hvidsten at the First Lutheran Church in Stephen. Mrs. Hvidsten, a lifetime resident of the area, passed away Wednesday, November 15 at White Bear Lake, Minnesota after a lengthy illness.
Rev. Charles Eldum officiated at the services. Mrs. Charles Eldum was organist and the First Lutheran Ladies Church Chorus sang several songs. Pallbearers were Curtis Lundeen, Bruce Hamnes, Donald Carl, Howard Richard and John Hvidsten. Interment was in the Stephen City Cemetery.
Mollie Theresa Torgerson was born December 16, 1897 in Wanger Township of Marshall County to Ole and Gina Torgerson. She was united in marriage to Alfred Hvidsten in 1920. Mrs. Hvidsten lived her entire life at Stephen, spending the winter months at Sun City, Arizona in recent years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Stephen where she was a faithful worker.
Mrs. Hvidsten is survived by her husband, Alfred; one daughter, Mrs. Orin (Jean) Eidsmoe of White Bear Lake, Minn.; and three sons, Ralph and Earl of Stephen and Gordon of Moorhead. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Walt Acker of Crookston and Mrs. Brink of Sacremento, Calif.; and one brother, Erling Torgerson of Stephen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter in infancy, one granddaughter, and two sisters.
