Horgen, Ebba Cecelia (Johnson) (1915-2010)

Ebba Cecelia Horgen, 95, of Owatonna, formerly of Warren, MN died Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Cedarview Care Center.

She was born August 30, 1915 in Roseau, Minnesota, the daughter of Erik and Lisa (Mattson) Johnson. Ebba graduated from North Star Bible College in Warren, MN. She then married Magnus Horgen June 2, 1935 in Roseau, MN, and the couple farmed together in rural Warren. They later moved to the Twin Cities area, Moose Lake, East Grand Forks, and later back to Warren. Magnus died January 15, 1986. Ebba moved to Owatonna in 2004 to be closer to family. Ebba was a beautician in Warren and St. Louis Park, and was a Psychiatric Licensed Practical Nurse in Anoka and Moose Lake retiring in 1980. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Churches in Warren and East Grand Forks, Hope Lutheran in Moose Lake and Our Savior”s Lutheran Church in Owatonna. Ebba was a person who enjoyed entertaining and always made sure she had plenty for her guests. She enjoyed gardening, baking, traveling, and volunteering her time for those in need.

She is survived by her children Floyd (Jolien) Horgen of Bozeman, MT, Evodia (Norman) Balek of Owatonna, Mark (Sayo) Horgen of Mendota Heights, and Paul (Betty) Horgen of Edina. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven brothers, five sisters, one grandson, and one great grandson.

Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday December 21, 2010 from 5-7PM and at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Owatonna on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 22, 2010 at 11:00AM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Owatonna with The Reverend John Weisenburger officiating. A Celebration of Ebba’s life will be at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Warren with interment at the McCrea Cemetery in the spring. Memorials are preferred to Owatonna Area Hospice or the McCrea Cemetery Association in Warren.
