Leverne Hoeper, 60, Grand Forks, ND, formerly of Stephen, MN, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2009 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Leverne was born on December 13, 1948 in Warren, MN, the son of Nicholas and Amy (Steer) Hoeper. He was raised and attended school in Stephen. Leverne worked for American Crystal Sugar in Drayton, ND. On February 25, 2005, he married Phyllis Cameron in Grand Forks. They lived in Stephen, Rapid City, SD before moving to Grand Forks.
He was a baptized and confirmed member of First Lutheran Church and also a member of Stephen American Legion Post 390.
Leverne enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and visiting with family and friends.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Phyllis; children, Cory (Rachel) Hoeper and Travis Hoeper all of Grand Forks, ND; stepchildren, Leah Nelson of Minneapolis, MN and Heath Monroe of Las Vegas, NV; two grandsons, Nicholas and Cameron; mother, Amy Hoeper of Stephen, MN; five siblings, Delores (Carroll) Flaten of Bemidji, MN, Duane (Patricia) Hoeper, Roger Hoeper (special friend, Pam) and Vicky (Ron) Weiland all of Stephen, MN and Loren (Kristie) Hoeper of Warroad, MN and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Nicholas.
Leverne will be dearly missed by his wife, family and friends after a courageous battle with health issues. His smile was contagious and his courage an inspiration to all who knew him.
