April 18, 1917 Warren Sheaf reports: Mrs. Nels Berg Dies
Mrs. Nels Berg died in Viking at 5 AM Saturday morning, April 7, 1917 at the age of 48 years, 6 months and 23 days. She was born in Storebro bruk, Kalmar Ian, Sweden. She came to America in 1886, stayed in Watertown and Minneapolis the first few years. She married Nels Berg in Minneapolis, April 22, 1889 and moved to Warren the same year, where she lived until 1897 when she came to Viking where she has lived since. She leaves to mourn her early departure her husband and ten children, namely Mrs. Willie Olson of Baudette, Edna, Esther, Signe, Minnie, Hannah, George, Gustaf and Edward all of Viking. Edwin of Faribault, a brother in Minneapolis, also two brothers and two sisters in Sweden.
The funeral was held at the Viking cemetery, April 10th. Rev. Drotts conducting the services. Mr. and Mrs. Ole Bodell, from McCrea and Mr. and Mrs. Charley Johnson from Warren attended the funeral also a host of neighbors and friends.
