Funeral services for Mrs. Olaf (Clara) Green, 83, of Newfolden will be held Thursday at 2 p.m., at the Bethlehem Lutheran church at Newfolden. Mrs. Green died Sunday at the United hospital in Grand Forks, N.D.
Rev. Hans Floan will officiate at the services. Music will include a duet by Lester Elseth and Mrs. Floyd Bakke with Mrs. Vernon Nelson serving as organist. Interment will be in the Oak Grove cemetery at Newfolden.
Pallbearers will be Peter Tanberg, Verne Green, Floyd Bakke, Carl Green, Jeffrey Anderson and Orin Green.
The body will repose at the Green Funeral home until nine o’clock tonight (Wednesday) and at the church for one hour prior to the time of services.
Mrs. Green, the former Clara Saugen, was born June 4, 1895 at Newfolden to Hans and Annie Saugen, now deceased. She attended school at Newfolden and was baptized and confirmed there. On Dec. 3, 1915, she was united in Marriage to Olaf Green at Warren. The couple operated a hotel in Newfolden for several years, prior to farming in the Newfolden community. In 1956, they moved into the village of Newfolden, where they lived until the past year when they became residents of Valley Home.
Mrs. Green was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran church and its ALCW.
She is survived by her husband, five daughters: Mrs. Harry (Lelah) Sands, Melbourne, Fla.; Avis Green, Minneapolis; Mrs. Robert (Phyllis) Anderson, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Lowell (Lois) Anderson, Park Rapids, and Mrs. Willis E. (Joan) Wright, Boston, Mass.; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Martin and Invall Saugen, both of Newfolden.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, two sisters and one brother.
