Funeral services for Olaf C. Green, 90, of Newfolden, were held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran church in Newfolden. Green died Wednesday at a hospital at Park Rapids.
Rev. Hans Floan officiated at the services. Vocal selections were provided by Lester Elseth and Mrs. Floyd Bakke. Mrs. Vernon Nelson served as organist. Interment was in the Oak Grove cemetery with the Green Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Lowell Anderson, Harry Sands, Floyd Bakke, Peter Tandberg, Verne Green and Orin Green.
Olaf C. Green was born Nov. 20, 1888 in Marsh Grove township, Marshall county, to Peder K. and Live Green, now deceased. He attended school and grew to manhood in that community.
On Dec. 3, 1915, he was married at Warren to Clara Saugen. For a time, they operated a hotel in Newfolden. In 1918, they began farming, operating the home farm for several years before purchasing their own farm west of Newfolden. In 1956, they retired from farming and moved into the village of Newfolden. There they resided until 1977, when they became residents of Valley Home in Thief River Falls. At the time of his death, he was a resident of Park Rapids Nursing home.
He was a longtime member of the Bethlehem Lutheran church.
Surviving are five daughters: Mrs. Harry (Lelah) Sands, Melbourne, Fla.; Avis Green, Minneapolis; Mrs. Robert (Phyllis) Anderson, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Lowell (Lois) Anderson, Park Rapids; and Mrs. Willis (Joan) Wright, Boston, Mass.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is one brother, Olger S. Green of this city.
He was preceded in death by his wife, who died Nov. 26, 1978, five sisters and seven brothers.
