Orval “Buddy” Wittman, age 92 years, of Warren, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren. Orval was born in Warren on March 12, 1921 to Charles and Caroline (Hartwig) Wittman. He lived his entire life on his farm until 2010. He attended Burnside School.
He was a member of McCrea 4-H Club and a leader for many years. He served on the Warren Co-op Creamery Board, Warren Co-op Shipping Association Board, and was the Cattle Superintendent at the Marshall County Fair. He also worked at Nelson Motor Company and the Angus Elevator.
In 1963, he received the Honorary Dairyman Award and in 2007 his farm became a Minnesota Century Farm.
On June 12, 1946, he married Eleanor Johnston. They made their home northeast of Warren, where they farmed together for 37 years before retiring in 1983. They also enjoyed camping and making crafts. Eleanor passed away March 31, 2011.
Left to mourn his passing are his two children: Kay (Dan) Finley of Roaming Shores, OH and Gale (Jo) Wittman of Warren; six grandchildren: Matthew (Jennifer) Finley, Jason (Amy) Finley, Eric Wittman (Tara Hancock), Cole (Kathy) Wittman, Tara Wittman and Abbi Jo Wittman (Caleb Zilmer); and nine great-grandchildren.
