Arlyce Anderson, 88, of Warren, MN passed away Sunday morning, May 25, 2014 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Arlyce Elaine Hansen was born on April 28, 1926 in Clearbrook, MN, the daughter of Carl S. and Inga O. (Melhus) Hansen. She was raised in Clearbrook where she graduated from high school. In 1945, Arlyce moved to Warren to work at the Warren Hospital. On May 12, 1946, she married William “Bud” Anderson. They made their home on a farm north of Warren until 1967 when they moved into Warren. Arlyce was a long time employee of the Warren Hospital and was also employed at the Emmaus Nursing Home.
Arlyce was active in Grace United Methodist Women. For her many years of dedication, she was honored with the “Recognition of a Special Member” award. She loved volunteering. Marshall County Historical Society and Warren Senior Center/Senior Meals were two of her favorites. She also was a member of Homemakers and Birthday Club. Arlyce was an avid reader. Any book worth looking at was fair game. One of her favorites were recipe books. She was always trying new recipes and was a very good cook/baker. She enjoyed swimming, bowling and gardening. Being outside working in her flowers brought her hours of joy and relaxation. She could make just about anything grow. She must have had two green thumbs as flowers seem to flourish under her care. In her younger years she enjoyed playing baseball and fishing in the brook by her home.
Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy – all 27 of them! She was nicknamed “Super Grandma” by one of her grandsons and it was very fitting. She played with, cooked for, and could take down those she loved with a simple pinky. She was super in so many ways.
Arlyce and Bud enjoyed over 67 years of marriage before Bud passed away on March 18 of this year. They laughed together, supported each other, and inspired those around them with the way they loved each.
Left to mourn her passing are her seven children, Bruce (Debbie) Anderson of Whitethorn, CA, Barbara Jorgenson/Moffitt (Jerry) of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Marijo (Dennis) Nabben of Thief River Falls, MN, Brad (Donna) Anderson of Glendale, AZ, Nancy (Russ) Erickson of Grand Forks, ND, Brian (Becky) Anderson of Cambridge, MN and Heide (Bill) Sabol of Farmington, MN; fifteen grandchildren: Brent, Ginger, Erin, Jason, Kristen, Jeremy, Jasmine, Patrick, Kelsey, Brady, Alexis, Jeffrey, Kyle, MaKena and Keisen; five great-grandchildren: Jacob, Andrew, Wesley, Isaac and William. Brothers, Glen (Julie) of Richfield, MN, Richard (Sarah) of Clearbrook, MN, David of St. Paul and sister, Geri Newquist of Crookston, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband William.
