PIONEER RESIDENT OF MARSHALL COUNTY
DIED JULY 29 IN THIS CITY
John Anderson, pioneer resident of Marshall county for 36 years, passed away at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Leiran at Thief River Falls Saturday at the age of 79 years.
He was born December 10, 1859 in Haabol, Westre Ede, Sweden. On November 21, 1887, he was united in marriage to Olava Johanson, to which union were born three sons and three daughters. The family resided in Fredrikshal for seven years after which they moved to Oslo, Norway. In 1903 they immigrated to the United States and settled on a homestead in Whiteford township, Marshall county. There Mr. Anderson made his home until 1933, when he moved to live with his son-in-law and daughter in Agder township.
He was preceded in death by two sons and a daughter who died in infancy, and his wife, who passed away 21 years ago.
He leaves to mourn his passing three children, Mrs. Helga Leiran of Thief River Falls, John L. Anderson of Middle River, Mrs. Esther Broberg of St. Paul; also several grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Holt and at Silvercreek. Rev. T. C. L. Hanson officiated. Burial was made in Silver Creek cemetery.
