Gwendolyn Beaird, 88, of Warren, MN, formerly of rural Argyle, MN, passed away Tuesday evening, August 31, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren with her family by her side.
Gwendolyn Peterson was born on July 31, 1922, in rural Warren, the daughter of Ivan and Alice (Anderson) Peterson. She was raised in rural Warren and she graduated from Warren High School. After high school, Gwen attended and graduated from Mounds Midway School of Nursing as an RN. She enlisted in US Army and served from 1945- 1946 in various military hospitals. After her discharge, she returned to the Warren area and she worked at the Warren Hospital. On October 11, 1947, she married Marvin “Bud” Beaird in Galesburg, IL. They made their home in Galesburg where they raised their family. Gwen worked at Cottage Hospital as a RN in the pediatric department. In 1979, they moved to Foldahl Township, Marshall County, MN (rural Argyle). In 2000, they moved to Warren. Marvin died on February 16, 2002.
She was a member of the Warren American Legion Auxiliary.
Gwen attended church at the Evangelical Free Church in Newfolden and when she moved to Warren she attended the Evangelical Covenant Church in Warren.
Left to mourn her passing are three children, Robert “Bob” Beaird of Argyle, MN, Mary (Dan) Youngstrand of Newfolden, MN and Margie (Brian) Ranstrom of rural Argyle, MN; grandson, Jason (Keri) Youngstrand and great-grandsons Trent and Logan of Amidon, ND; granddaughter, Alisha (Tim) Olson and great-grandchildren, Ashley, Brooke and Carter of Newfolden, MN; sister, Darlene Hess of Warren, MN and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; grandson, Cody L. Beaird and brother, Wallace Peterson.
