Adele (Larson) Geske, 87, died July 22, 2010 at Thief River Care Center, Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Bob Dahlen officiating. Burial will follow in the Opdahl Cemetery, rural Newfolden, MN.
Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service.
Adele Gladys Larson was born on April 28, 1923 to Alfred and Gena (Haugen) Larson in a log home in New Maine Township, Marshall County, MN. She attended the Blackberg Country School north of Newfolden.
She was married as a young woman and to this union a son, Ronald and daughter, Marion were born.
She then met Leroy Banta in Minneapolis and they were married in the early 1950s. They lived in North Minneapolis for a few years. They then moved to California to care for Leroys mother. They returned back to North Minneapolis where they lived until 1965. She worked part time for a dry cleaners. Adele and her family moved to Little Falls, MN where she leased a bar for a couple of years. She then moved to Payson, Arizona and lived for over a decade until the mid 1970s. She moved back to Little Falls, MN. She was then married to Bob Geske and made their home in Crosby, MN. Her husband died and Adele returned to Little Falls where she lived for 9 years. In the mid 1990s, Adele moved to Newfolden. She lived there until moving in 2006 to Riverside Terrace in Thief River Falls, MN.
Adele enjoyed playing cards. She enjoyed tipping back a few with her friends and playing pull tabs. She was an artist who liked to paint and draw. In the last few years, she has enjoyed her trip to the Little Falls Craft Fair. KFC was her favorite food and the family made many trips out of the way to get her some chicken. She was active with the American Legion Auxiliary in Crosby, MN.
Adele is survived by three children: Ronald Banta, Bovey, MN, Marian (Dale) Sandelin, Blackduck, MN, Sharon Dobis, Little Falls, MN, 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren,
Adelle was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob Geske, step daughter Kathy Johnson, brothers Melvin and Lloyd Larson, son in law Patrick Dobis, nephew Larry Larson, one unborn great grandchild.
