Thief River Falls – Megan Halvorson, 15, died on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at Meritcare Hospital in Fargo, N.D.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 10 (today), at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Wesley Langaas officiating. Casket bearers include Doug Nelson, Mike Curren, Dave Romo, Bill Harlow, Craig Welch and Bob Wold. Honorary casket bearers include Lincoln High School Class of 2010, Swimming Buddies, Teachers, Para’s and staff of Thief River Falls Schools, Caregivers and Nurses, Dave and Cathy Swenson, Mandie Russell and Sgt. Wade Russell, best friend and brother, Josh; special friends, Lacey Stennes, Allison Jenson, Brittany Wightman, Brandi Ose, Kari Hanson, Nicole Wolff, Ashley Wolff, Mickayla Harlow, Kendra Severson, Rosie Severson, Catelyn Swenson, Kanisha Wilkinson, Kendra Vigness and Kyle Sveum. Interment will be held at Rindal Cemetery, New Solum Township, Marshall County. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Megan Halvorson was born on February 5, 1992 in Grand Forks, N.D., the daughter of Jeff and Audrey (Nicholls) Halvorson. She was baptized at birth in the hospital and confirmed this past spring at Abundant Life Church. Megan attended Knox Elementary, Challenger Elementary, Franklin Middle School and Lincoln High School.
Megan was very social and loved people and animals, especially dogs and horses. She enjoyed music and watching movies with her best friend, her brother, Josh. She liked to listen to audio books, swimming, and baking with her mom.
Megan had a great sense of humor, she loved laughing at her dad, when putting on her jacket. Megan thought it was hilarious when she went to a new school, and the teachers and aides were unsure of doing her cares correctly. Megan has brightened so many lives with her captivating smile, her happy go lucky attitude and her love for everyone. Megan loved the time she spent with her grandparents, who were always there for her, fishing at her dad’s and dressing up and wearing makeup.
Megan is survived by her father, Jeff (Tammy) Halvorson of Coon Rapids; her mother, Audrey Halvorson of Thief River Falls; one brother, Josh Halvorson of Thief River Falls; stepsiblings, Sgt. Wade Russell of Afghanistan, April Russell of East Grand Forks, and Mandie Russell (Fiancé, Jacob Johnson) of Buxton, N.D.; step-nephew, Kaiden Johnson; grandparents, Betty and Edward Nicholls and Carol and Harlan Halvorson, all of Thief River Falls; stepgrandparents, William and Jaclyn Wimpfheimer of Farmington; great-grandma, Elsie Nicholls of Warren; aunt Janine and Uncle Doug Nelson of Fargo, N.D.; cousins, Jordon, Jake and Jessie Nelson; and several other aunts, uncles, great aunts, great uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Matthew Halvorson; great grandparents, Hannah and Morris Halvorson, Mayme and Carl Aune, Olaf Hall, Abner Nicholls, Robert Korngiebel and Owen and Ida Christensen; and several other relatives.
