Funeral services for Andreas Hanson, 95, pioneer Newfolden community resident, were held Saturday morning at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden with Rev. C. L. Kalmoe officiating. He died the previous Tuesday at the Oscar Johnson farm home of rural Thief River Falls.
Interment was made in Folden Cemetery. Green Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hanson was born April 7, 1874 in Vardal, Norway, the son of Hans and Antonette Dybal. He was baptized, confirmed and schooled in Norway and came to America with her parents in 1889 when they homesteaded east of Newfolden where he grew to manhood.
On Jan. 24, 1910 he was married to Johanna Stromsmoe and they farmed east of Newfolden until 1942 when they retired and moved into Newfolden. His wife died in August 1966 and then he made his home with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hanson of Newfolden and lately at the Oscar Johnson farm home.
Survivors include a son, Harold Hanson of Newfolden; two daughters, Mrs. Norman (Bertha) Folden of Newfolden and Mrs. Martin (Myrtle) Sailors of Devils Lake, N.D., seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one grandchild and brothers and sisters.
