Last rites for Mrs. Andrew Hanson, 83, Newfolden, pioneer, were held Friday from Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden with Rev. Loren Nielson officiating. She died the previous Monday in Thief River Falls Hospital.
Interment was made in Folden Cemetery. Pallbearers were Orville Elseth, Bergman Folden, Harold Folden, Morris Hanson, Martin Saugen and Ray Tunhelm. Organist was Sheila Elseth and soloist was Lester Elseth.
Mrs. Andrew (Johanna) Hanson was born December 24, 1882 in Bardu, Norway, the daughter of the late Hans and Berit Stromsmoe. She came to America with her parents when she was 6 months old, settling near Climax and later homesteading in New Solum Township where she spent her early years. Later the family moved to Holt Township where she received her education.
She was married Jan. 24, 1910 to Andrew Hanson at Holt and the couple farmed in Holt Township until 1942 when they moved to Newfolden.
Survivors include her husband, Andrew of Newfolden; two daughters, Mrs. Norman (Bertha) Folden of Newfolden and Mrs. Martin (Myrtle) Sailors of Devils Lake, N.D.; two brothers, Julius Stromsoe of Sundre, Alberta, Canada, and Olaf Stromsmoe of Olds, Alberta, Canada; and seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, three brothers and one grandchild.
