Myron Haynes, 80, of Alvarado, MN, formerly of Warren, MN, passed away on Thursday morning, December 29, 2011 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Myron was born on August 20, 1931 in Hallock, MN, the son of Clarence and Ruth Haynes. He was raised in Orleans, MN where he attended country school. Myron was in the US Army during the Korean Conflict where he was a diesel mechanic. On January 28, 1955, he married Phyllis Schmidt. They moved to Warren in 1956. Myron worked at Massey Harris before going to work at Wages Motor Supply in Warren. He also managed Napa in Warren for a short period of time. In his retirement years, he worked for Western Polymer and Dahlstrom Motors. Phyllis died on March 8, 2003. Myron moved to Alvarado in the spring of 2011 with his beloved dogs, Bailey and Timmy.
He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and the Warren American Legion Post #27.
Myron enjoyed camping, fishing, rebuilding engines and working on cars. He was known for his gift of gab.
Left to mourn his passing are three children, Suzanne Haynes of Clear Lake, MN, John Haynes of Grand Forks, MN and Jeana Thorson of Gramby, MO; Also surviving are his loving grandchildren, Abigayil, Sydnie and Tara Haynes, Naomi and Brandon Haynes and Jamie and Page Thorson; great-grandchildren, Ryker, Emma and Corey; two sisters, Marjorie Johnson of Hallock, MN and Elaine Knutson of Lancaster, MN; brother, Melvin Haynes of Fergus Falls, MN and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis and brother, Rodney.
