Helen Hickman, 92, of Warren, MN, passed away on Saturday morning, February 26, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren.
Helen Margaret Dalquist was born on March 10, 1918 in Warren, the daughter of John and Esther (Johnson) Dalquist. She attended the Dalquist Country School. Helen left school to help take care of her mother who had health problems. On December 28, 1938, she married Walter Hickman in Grand Forks, ND. They made their home in Vega Township, Marshall County, MN where they farmed and also had chickens, turkeys, dairy cows and pigs. Walter died on July 2, 1977. Helen moved to Warren in 1984 and into the Good Samaritan Center in 2005.
She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and it’s Ladies Aid, Homemakers, Hospital Auxiliary and the Warren Senior Citizens.
Helen enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking donuts, bread and cookies and volunteering at her church.
Left to mourn her passing are her three children, Warren (Marion) Hickman of Alpine, AZ, Karen Larson of Warren, MN and Roger (Connie) Hickman of St. Paul, MN; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Harriet Johnson of Alexandria, MN and many and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, James Larson and six brothers and sisters, Walter Dalquist, Agnes Malm, Minnie Ranstrom, Clarence Dalquist, Lillie Malm and George Dalquist.
