Esther Hill, 97, Warren, MN, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren, MN.
Esther Monroe was born on October 24, 1908 at Radium, MN, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Schantzen) Monroe. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended Radium country school and graduated from Warren High School. Esther worked at the Warren Hospital and the Sioux Cafe in Thief River Falls, MN. She married Arthur Hill on November 4, 1942. They made their home in Seattle, WA for forty-six years where they both worked for Boeing Aircraft. While in Seattle, they were very active in Atonement Lutheran Church. In 1988, they moved to Warren. Arthur died on February 20, 1992. Esther moved to the Good Samaritan Center in 1998.
She was noted for her beautiful flower gardens, fruit trees and vegetable gardens. Esther was a wonderful cook and baker and did a lot of vegetable and fruit canning. Art and Esther toured Europe and Esther made several European trips with her sister Ramona Monroe.
Left to mourn her passing is a sister, Ramona Monroe of Arvada, CO, sister-in-law, Carol Monroe of Warren, MN and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Ozelle Aultman, Opal Aase, Ruby Larson, Loretta Rasmussen and Della Conley and brothers, Art Monroe, Clarence Monroe, George Monroe and James Monroe.
