Carl F. Johnson, 82, Warren, MN, died on Sunday, December 12, 2004 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren.
Carl F. Johnson was born on January 22, 1922 near Lengby, MN, the son of Frank and Lena (Fairbanks) Johnson. He moved with his family to Mahnomen, MN in 1936 where his dad was Sheriff of Mahnomen County. Carl graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1941. He served in the Coast Guard during WWII in the Pacific Theatre from 1942 – 1945. Carl married Florence Birkeland on October 16, 1948 at her parent’s farm near Twin Valley, MN. He graduated from Bemidji State College in the spring of 1954. Carl and Florence moved to Warren where he taught Art at the Warren High School from 1954 – 1984. After he retired from teaching, he had a sign painting business for many years.
He was an avid fisherman and camper.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Florence and four children; Lovie (Chuck) Graham of Warren, MN, Scott (Sherry) Johnson of Honolulu, HI, Karlene (Paul) Wages of Coon Rapids, MN and Brian (Carol) Johnson of New Brighton, MN, seven grandchildren; Janna Graham, Amanda Graham Lund, Tami Johnson Abbott, Daniel Johnson, Deija Wages, Mitchell Johnson and Nathaniel Johnson, three great-grandchildren; Annelise Long, Courtney Lund and Spencer Lund, two brothers; Marvin (Tooty) Johnson of Mahnomen, MN and Bill (Cheryl) Johnson of Dillon, MT, sister; Carol Bement of Waubun, MN, two sister-in-laws; Irene Johnson of Kettering, OH and Betty Johnson of Waubun, MN and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Francis “Swede” Johnson, Everett “Bud” Johnson and John Johnson and sister, Ione Johnson.
