Donald Raymond Johnson was born on January 12, 1929 to Albert and Mabel (Graff) Johnson in Grand Plain Township, Marshall County. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Germantown, MN. He attended country school in Germantown.
He worked at Erie Mining in Babbitt in his early years. Also in his early years, he hauled fuel oil for about three years. He moved back to the family farm in the late 1950’s and has lived there ever since. He farmed and raised beef cattle with his brother for well over 40 years. The cattle were his children. You could tell by the way Don cared for them.
Donald raised a great big garden. It was hard to find a weed in his garden. He shared his produce with his family. He loved to deer hunt with his brothers, nephews, cousins, and nieces. He also liked to bird hunt and enjoyed the times he could cast a line in the water and fish. Don liked to play cards and his favorite games were pinnacle and smear.
Donald is survived by 5 siblings: Florence Easthouse, Eldon Johnson, Everett Johnson, Leon (Naomi) Johnson, all of Goodridge, MN, Avis (Rodney) Byklum, Grygla, MN, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother in law Irving Easthouse, infant nephew Gary Easthouse, and great niece Courtney Thiesen.
