Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Johnson, 81, of this city were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran church. Mrs. Johnson, widow of Hjalmer Johnson, died Friday at Northwestern hospital.
Rev. Harold Peterson officiated at the services. Mrs. Harold Peterson was the organist and Mrs. Arnold Hammer, soloist. Interment was in Folden cemetery. Sinding’s Funeral chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Stanley Holmans, Willard Holmas, Forrest Johnson, Robert Johnson, Merle Johnson and Boyd Wilson.
Mrs. Johnson, the former Emma Stokke, was born March 16, 1890 in Newfolden township, Marshall county. She grew to womanhood in that community. She was married at Spooner on Oct. 15, 1911 to Hjalmer Johnson. Following their marriage, the couple farmed in the Holt area until they retired in 1947. Since then, she had made her home in Thief River Falls.
She is survived by one son, Francis Johnson of Newfolden; four daughters: Mrs. Ethel Hill of Duluth, Mrs. Delmar (Eunice) Hagen of Gatzke, Mrs. Eloise Gilbert and Mrs. Duane (Yvonne) Green, both of Thief River Falls; 16 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one brother, Emil Stokke of Thief River Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husband in October of this year, one son, and three sisters.
