FUNERAL RITES FOR
MRS. OSCAR (Tilda) JOPPRU
SATURDAY AFTERNOON

Funeral rites were conducted Saturday afternoon at Zion Lutheran church, Rev. Walter Pedersen officiating, for Mrs. Oscar Joppru, who succumbed at a local hospital Sept. 1 at the age of 63 years. The body was laid to rest in the Satersdal cemetery ten miles northeast of this city.

Besides her husband, Oscar, Mrs. Joppru leaves a daughter, Margaret, and eight sons, Theodore of Fergus Falls, Olaf of St. Hilaire, Arthur, Melvin, Clarence, Sander and Orville of this city, and Richard of the Army Air Corps; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Skomedahl of this city and Mrs. Hans Mittet of Bemidji; two brothers, Soren and John Bergland of this city. Preceding her in death were her first husband, a son, a daughter, two brothers, and a sister.

Mrs. Joppru was born May 31, 1885 in Polk county. She came with her parents to this vicinity as a young girl, and In December 1902 she was married to Andrew Joppru. They farmed in Marshall county for several years, and after Andrew’s death in 1918, she was remarried in 1920 to Oscar Joppru. They farmed in this vicinity until moving to Thief River Falls three years ago. Mrs. Joppru was a member of the Zion Lutheran church and was active in its ladies aid, Mission Society, and the W.C.T.U.
