Elmer Larson Laid To Rest On Thursday
Funeral rites were held last Thursday, Feb. 6. at the Vega Baptist church, officiated by Rev. Mossberg for Elmer Leonard Larson. He passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 2, at 1 o’clock at the Deaconess hospital at Minneapolis at the age of 23 years and five months.
Elmer was born Sept. 2, 1906, and raised in this community where his smiles surely will be missed. He contracted pneumonia shortly before New Year’s and was taken to the hospital where he seemed to rally from it and for a while was getting along nicely, until it took a turn for the worse, which developed into spinal meningitis. Every thing that could be done for him was done, both by doctors and nurses, but it seemed that his work on this earth was done, as God knows the best. He was carried to his last resting place by his four brothers and his to brothers-in-law, as that was the last helping hand that they could give him.
His smiling face is greatly missed by his father and mother, four sisters and four brothers, Anna, Algot, Willie and Hilbert at home, Axel at Warren, Mrs. Dan Ostrand at Donaldson, Mrs. Emil Hill, Alvarado, Mrs. Selmer Oswald, Warren. We cannot say and we will not say that he is dead, he is just away. With a cheery smile and a wave of the hand he has wondered[sic] into an unknown land. He is not dead, he is just away.
