James A. Larson, 76, of rural Warren, MN, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND with his family by his side.
James was born on December 21, 1933 in Warren, the son of Adolph and Ruth (Ranstrom) Larson. He was raised in rural Warren where he attended school. James served in the US Army from 1957- 1959 and then the Reserves until 1963. On September 14, 1963, he married Karen Hickman in Warren. They made their home in rural Warren where he farmed. James also worked at Arctic Cat in the engineering department. In the late 1980’s, he worked at Marvin Windows until he went to work for the City of Warren in the early 1990’s. He retired in 2004. After his retirement, he helped on the farm of Merle Stinar in the spring and fall.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Warren American Legion Post #27. James was also on the Warrenton Township Board for 25 years and a former board member of the Marshall County Historical Society.
Jim enjoyed camping, fishing and tinkering with anything that needed to be fixed. He spent many hours in his shop working on “old” things. Jim especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Karen; two children, Linda (Wayne) Hamrick of Warren, MN and Brian (Denise) Larson of Warroad, MN; grandchildren, Tony Hamrick, Kelli Hamrick (Aaron Knoll), Becky Hamrick, Eric Larson and Cameron Larson; great-granddaughter, Alexis Hamrick; brothers, Raymond Larson of Whitehall, WI and Kenneth (Mary) Larson of Wickenburg, AZ; sisters, Darlyne Christianson of Moorhead, MN, Janet (Lyle) Anderson of Hailey, ID and Cheryl (Robert) Hangsleben of Battleground, WA; mother-in-law, Helen Hickman; brothers-in-law, Warren (Marion) Hickman, Roger (Connie) Hickman and Ed (Beryl) Palmer and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Sylvia Palmer and Katherine Larson.
