Larry Laymon, 83, of Warren, MN, passed away on Sunday evening, February 9, 2014 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN.
Larry Freeman Laymon was born on January 7, 1931 at Warren, the son of Bert and Cecelia (Grimm) Laymon. He was raised in rural Warren where he attended country school. Larry also attended school at the Crookston AC. He served in the US Army from 1952 – 1954 during the Korean Conflict where he earned a purple heart. On June 30, 1956, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Olson. They made their home in rural Warren where they farmed. Larry also worked at American Crystal in Drayton, ND for many years.
He enjoyed dancing, polka music, playing the accordion and piano, fishing, hunting, camping, gardening and animals -especially Kitters his cat of 21 years. Larry was a gunsmith who enjoyed making and repairing guns. He was a great husband and father who loved his grandchildren early.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Mary Ann Laymon of Warren, MN; two children, David Laymon of rural Warren, MN and Janelle (Jason) Fick of rural Viking, MN; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kaiden and Joseph Fick; brother, Maynard (JoAnn) Laymon of Warren, MN and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Cecelia Laymon, father and mother-in-law, Gordon and Emma Olson; three grandchildren, Gordon Rueben Fick, Emmalie Mary Ann Fick and Rachel Tiffany Fick; nephew, Bruce Laymon and brother-in-law, Ronald Olson.
