Funeral services for Clara Lokstad, 82, of Newfolden were held today (Wednesday) at 2:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Free church in Newfolden. Miss Lokstad died Saturday morning at the CNC unit at Northwestern hospital.
Rev. Earl Evelund officiated at the services. Vocal selections were two duets by Mrs. Merle Bjornrud and Floyd Hanson. Mrs. Carroll Lindstrom served as organist. Interment will be in the Folden cemetery, rural Newfolden, with the Green Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Morris Hansen, Norman Folden, Elmer Johnson, David Lokstad, Harvey Dyrud and Lawrence Bjorsness.
Clara Marie Lokstad, a daughter of the late John and Elen Oitangen Lokstad, was born Dec. 17, 1899 in Newfolden township, Marshall county. She attended rural school in that community and grew to womanhood on the family farm. Later she attended the Crookston A.C. and the Robert B. Brigham hospital nursing school in Boston, Mass., where she was enrolled in the LPN program. She worked most of her lifetime in the Boston area as a domestic and chauffeur. In 1975, she returned to Newfolden and had since made her home there.
She is survived by two brothers, John Lokstad, Newfolden, and Invard; Detroit Lakes; a sister, Otella, Newfolden, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Emma, and three brothers: Hans, Albert and Oliver.
