Robert D. Magner of Thief River Falls, MN, died Saturday, December 13, 2014 at his home at the age of 75.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN, with Pastor George Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Opdahl Cemetery, Newfolden, MN.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service, at the funeral home on Wednesday.
Robert Dale Magner was born at home in Newfolden on January 12, 1939, the son of Dale and Jeanette (Blinsman) Magner. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Bob attended Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls.
Following high school, Bob was drafted into the United States Army. He completed his training at Fort Ord in California and completed U. S. Army Southeastern Signal School at Fort Gordon, GA. Bob was stationed in France for two years and honorably discharged in 1967.
When Bob returned from the Army he attended Northland College in Thief River Falls.
For a number of years Bob worked for Hartz Wholesale in Thief River Falls.
On June 27, 1981 Bob was united in marriage to Lois Peterson at their future home.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 117 in Thief River Falls.
Bob enjoyed reading books, writing, traveling, playing horseshoes, and watching TV.
Bob is survived by his wife, Lois of Thief River Falls; brother, Darrell (Kathy) Magner of Durango, CO; sister, Julie (Richard) Claveau of Sun Prairie, WI; nieces, Kim (Dale) Martell of Thief River Falls, MN, Kari (Brian) Moyer of Thief River Falls, MN, and Kelly (Tony) Haneca of Moorhead, MN; nephew, Chad Johnson of Rapid City, SD, and aunts, Lucille Skadsem of Thief River Falls, MN and Evelyn Edlund of Puyallup, WA.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Dale and Jeanette Magner and his grandparents.
