Donald Lane McMillin, the son of Olga (Aune) and Harold McMillin, was born on December 3, 1924 in Gatzke, Minnesota.
He attended school in Gatzke and graduated from high school in Middle River in 1942. He and Betty Grondahl were married on June 29, 1947 in Gatzke. They moved to Roseau in 1956 and have lived there ever since then. Donald worked as a truck driver for all of his life. He drove for Stordahl Trucking and with Penner. Donald had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, farming, driving tractor and was a gun collector. His greatest love was his family. He enjoyed spending time with all of his kids and grandkids. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Donald was a member of the NRA, the National Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited, the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association, United Lutheran Church and the Teamsters Union.
Donald McMillin passed away on December 18, 2003 at the Roseau Area Hospital at the age of 79.
He is survived by his children, Bonnie (Pete) Tydlacka of Red Lake Falls, MN, Donna (Paul) Weimelt of Lakeville, MN, Laurel (Steven) Bergstrom of Wannaska, MN, Denise Johnson of Warroad, Jeanie (Denton) Pederson of Warroad, Harley (Karla) of Roseau, Dino (Susie) of Warroad, Craig (Tracy) of Roseau, and Alex (Brenda) of Roseau; 24 grandchildren, Nick, Danelle, Dena, Peter, Angie, Donald, Tyler, Mallory, Jessica, Katie, Michael, Dawn, Daidre, Alex, Mandy, Brian, Trevor, Damian, Nathan, Matthew, Jordan, Kelsie, Taylor and Anna; 5 great-grandchildren, Rocco, Tyreese, Keirstin, Bretney and Richard; sister, Faye Brandt of Roseau, brother, Ray (Eleanor) McMillin of Grygla and sister, Maxine (Kenny) Grondahl of Vero Beach, FL.; 2 sisters-in-law, Karyl Larson, Gatzke, MN, and Ardell Roen, Grygla, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Betty in 2001; sons, Eric, and daughter, Layne.
