Lloyd George Melgard was born on Nov. 3, 1916 at Warren, Minn. He passed away in Houston, Tex., on Aug. 7, 1984 at the age of 67.
Mr. Melgard was a life-long resident of the Warren Community where he farmed.
He attended schools in Warren and in Minneapolis. He entered the Army as a private on Dec. 7, 1940 and was discharged at the end of World War II as a Lieutenant. He entered service again during the Berlin Airlift and was discharged in 1952 as a captain. He served on the Marshall County Historical Society board, serving as president from 1963-1975. He was the editor of the Warren Diamond Jubilee History book in 1956 and the city’s Centennial History book in 1981.
He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, the Sons of Norway, Masonic Lodge and the Warren American Legion Post 27.
Mr. Melgard was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Minnie Melgard, and two brothers.
Left to mourn his passing are one brother and one sister, H. Q. Melgard of Warren, Minn.
