Jane Miller, 89, died on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Valley Home in Thief River Falls, MN.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Graveside rites will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Saint Olaf Cemetery, Grygla, MN.
Jane A. Haugen was born August 28, 1923 at Bemidji, MN, the daughter of Olaf and Gena (Nerhus) Haugen. She attended Highlanding grade school and graduated Lincoln High School in 1942.
On June 14, 1942, Jane was united in marriage to Douglas E. Miller at Yuma, AZ, where they lived for a time. Douglas was drafted into the United States Army and then joined the Air Force. Following Doug’s discharge, the couple moved to Grygla, MN. They lived in International Falls, MN for 2 years and then made the move back to Grygla, where Jane lived until January 1, 2006, when she moved to Thief River Falls. She worked at Arctic Cat for 10 years in the welding department.
Jane was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Grygla and the Ladies Aid. She taught Sunday School for 10 years. Jane was a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, hunting, fishing and generally spending time outdoors.
Jane is survived by a son, Richard (Janet) Miller, Franklin, IN; 2 grandchildren, Wade (Amber) Miller and Alicia Miller; great grandchildren. Gavin & Gage Miller; sister, Verna Oley, Verdi, NV; several nieces and nephews; Arlene Kotrba, Misty and Diseree, whom Jane raised when they were children; and good friend Polly Englund.
She is preceded in death by husband, Douglas on February 12, 1996; a grandson, Ryan Miller; brothers, Earl and Vernon Haugen; and half brother, Glen Osbjornson.
