Paul Morkassel, 84, of rural Warren, MN, passed away on Friday afternoon, September 2, 2011 with his family by his side.
Paul Andy Morkassel was born on January 25, 1927 in Warren, MN, the son of Andy and Helen (Mapps) Morkassel. He was raised in Warren where he graduated from high school. Paul proudly served in the US Army from 1952-1954 and the Army Reserves from 1954-1960. He married Diana Northup on June 20, 1964. They made their home in rural Warren where he farmed, was a partner in Spruce Up Nursery and worked at the American Crystal sugar beet piler outstations. Paul was a dedicated, loving provider and father.
He was a Christian and a member of Warren American Legion Post #27.
He enjoyed flying, playing cards and fishing.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Diana; four sons, Alan (Kathy) Morkassel of Warren, MN, Vyron (Lauri) Morkassel of Glyndon, MN, Dean (Tammy) Morkassel of Northfield, MN and Kevin (Traci) Morkassel of Salem, IL; foster child, Angel Louthan; siblings, Tess (Donarski) Morkassel of Ada MN, Jean (Clark) Hanson of Ashton, OR, Mary (Adolph) Hapka of Mentor MN, Benno Kristensen of Mendota Heights MN, and Neil (DuRae) Morkassel of Dent, MN; fourteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John and sister, Ruth.
