Cora Nabben, 79, died Tuesday, May 18, 1999 at the CNC unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls. Funeral services were held on Friday, May 21 at 2 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend Curtis Brooks officiating. Elaine Idso was the organist, and Tim Panek was the soloist. Casketbearers were Greg Srnsky, Darryl Opdahl, Debra Bruggeman, Richard Wegge, Mark Peterson, Denise Opdahl, Dale Opdahl, and Richard Eckstein. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery in Agder township of Marshall county. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Cora Runnestrand was born on February 25, 1920 in Kratka township of Pennington county, the daughter of Henry and Clara (Tronnes) Runnestrand. She was baptized and confirmed at Telemarken Lutheran Church. Cora attended school and grew up in Kratka township.
On December 2, 1939 she was united in marriage to Alfred Nabben at the Mavie parsonage. The couple made their home in rural Thief River Falls and moved into Thief River Falls in 1967. In 1985 they moved to the Skylite Apartments. Alfred died in 1987. In November of 1998 Cora moved to the CNC unit of Northwest Medical Center.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and a former member of the Bethlehem Ladies Aid. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and embroidery.
Cora is survived by one son, LaVern Nabben of Thief River Falls; three daughters, Cheryl (Jack) Srnsky, Corinne (Duane) Opdahl, and LaVonne (Wendell) Wegge, all of Thief River Falls; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy Runnestrand of Thief River Falls; four sisters, Evelyn Schwartz and Lorraine (Orvis) Sletten, both of Thief River Falls, Marilyn (Clarence) Sletten of Plummer and Arlene Hagen of Chester, MT; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, Henry Jr., Raymond and Lewis; one sister, Hazel Nabben; and two grandson, Rodney and Wesley Srnsky.
