Nelson, Jerrold Harvey (1923-2004)

Jerrold Nelson, 80, died on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at Northwest Medical Center, CNC Unit, Thief River Falls, MN with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 18, 2004 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Mylo Carlson officiating. Burial will be at Silver Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery, Excel Township, Marshall County, MN.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Saturday with a prayer service held at 7:00 PM at the Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls and on Sunday one hour prior to the service in the church.

Jerrold Harvey Nelson was born on September 29, 1923 in Grygla, MN, the son of John C. and Amanda (Englund) Nelson. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith and confirmed at Silver Creek Lutheran Church.

Jerrold was united in marriage to Irene M. Dowacter on November 24, 1943 at the Holt Parsonage. They lived and raised their children on the farm in Agdar Township. While his passion was farming, raising grains, dairy, and beef cattle, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing (mostly the stories) along with visiting the hunting cabins of family (and more stories). In later farming years, he acquired the hobby of gardening. What he treasured most about gardening was being able to deliver his produce to family and friends (and more stories). Jerrold served on the Agdar Township Board for 30 years.

Jerrold is survived by Irene, and his children Pamela (Gary) Battleson, Melrene (Larry) Kaiser, Thief River Falls, Doyle (Sue) Nelson, Goodridge, JoDee (Ron) Reierson, Thief River Falls, Danae (Joe) Khalaf, Dallas, TX; grandchildren Kimberly (Jeff) Langan, Jill (Jeff) Johnson, Jennifer (Kevin) Fonkert, Jeremy (Tara) Nelson, Jessie (Katie) Nelson, Lance (Becky) Reierson, Anthony Klotter, Christopher Reierson, Brianna Reierson; great grandchildren Alissa, Aaron, and Adam Langan, Hailey, Logan and Cole Johnson, Hunter, Savanna and Tanner Fonkert, EmmaRae and Ethan Nelson, Kayla Nelson, Brittyn and Sydney Reierson, Madison Klotter, sisters Helen Wilson, Denver, CO, LaVonne (Don) Thune, St. Hilaire, Irene (Wes) Johnson, Thief River Falls, Violet “Dolly” Hensley, McMinnville, OR and brother Roy (Pearl) Nelson, Goodridge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Dale and Leo Nelson; and one sister Marion Olson, and many other relatives and friends.
