Tillie Nesland, 91, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls with Reverend Paul Knutson officiating. Special music was provided by Verna and Keith Christensen. Casketbearers were Jeff Widing, Clyde Christensen, Bob Christensen, Curt Christensen, Kent Christensen and Scott Hutton. Burial was in Saint Olaf Cemetery in Valley township of Marshall county.
Tillie Nesland was born on September 25, 1908 in Grygla, MN, the daughter of Gunder and Jaranold (Berg) Nesland. She was baptized and confirmed on September 3, 1922 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Grygla and attended school in Grygla. In 1960, she moved to a farm in Silverton township near Thief River Falls, MN. For many years, she was employed at Arctic Cat, and following her retirement from there, she worked at the Dairy Queen.
Tillie resided with her brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Lucille Nesland, in Thief River Falls until she moved to Valley Home where she received the “Most Patient Person” award. She later moved to Oakland Park Nursing Home where she resided until the time of her death.
She enjoyed singing, quilting and especially spending time with family and friends.
Tillie is survived by her brother, Andrew (Lucille) Nesland of Thief River Falls, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: a twin sister, Ingeborg, and Inga; and six brothers: Knute, Halvor, Sven, Ole, Tom and Targie.
