Christine Ness, 101, died on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at the Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt, MN with Rev. Nancy Hanson officiating. Burial will follow in the Holt Cemetery, Holt, MN.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 PM on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN and also for one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday at the church.
Christine Ness was born on December 14, 1904 in Holt, MN to Hans Andreas and Karoline G. (Helseth) Fosholm. She was baptized and confirmed at the church in Holt, MN. She was raised on a farm north of Holt and attended country school.
She was united in marriage to Theodore T. Ness on July 27, 1929 at Holt, MN. She and her husband owned and operated a café in Holt from 1926-1946. They then moved to a farm where Christine helped raise animals and grow crops. Ted died in 1968 and she moved into Holt in 1970. She lived there until she entered Oakland Park Nursing Home in March of 1995.
Christine enjoyed quilting, baking, lefse making. She enjoyed taking care of her family and feeding her brothers while they farmed. Christine was an avid card player. She was a lifelong member of Nazareth Church, where she was active in circle and WELCA. She also enjoyed the Holt Keenagers. She also raised a garden for many years and would help out with babysitting her great nieces.
Christine is survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ted, 8 brothers and sisters: Inanda Monson, Clara Heieren, Gylia Christopherson, Amanda Fosholm, Milla Anderson, Ingvall Fosholm, Henry Fosholm, and Oscar Fosholm.
