Services for Mrs. Jennie Newton, 94, will be held Friday from Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. She died Sunday November 12, 1989, in the Convalescent Nursing Care Unit at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls. Rev. George Davis will officiate at the services with burial to be in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery of rural Thief River Falls.
Jennie Holmstrom was born January 1, 1895, in West Valley Township, Marshall County, the daughter of Erick and Elizabeth Holmstrom She grew up and attended school in the Strandquist area. In 1917, she married George Senum and they lived in Silverton Township, Pennington County. He died in 1905 and she moved to Thief River Falls. In 1951, she married Andrew Newton. He died in 1967.
Survivors include two sons; Lawrence Senum of Kennedy and Wilfred Senum of Thief River Falls; four daughters, Violet Ranum of Grand Forks, Evelyn Manderud and Lorraine Hendrickson of St. Paul and Delores Anderson of Ventura CA; a step-daughter, Laura Walker of CA; 29 grandchildren; three great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a son, Earl Senum, a step-son, Edward Senum, a step-daughter, Caroline Mason, and a grandson, Roger Senum
