Philmore Nilson was born November 2, 1913, at Strathcona, MN, the son of Gottfrid and Naemi (Fernstrom) Nilson. He was baptized December 3, 1913 at the Lutheran Church in Strathcona and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith at Warroad, MN and graduated from Warroad High School in 1932. Philmore worked as a pipefitter in the shipyard at Seneca, IL, where he was involved building LST ships as his contribution to the war effort.
On September 24, 1950, Philmore was united in marriage to Borghild Aune at Landstad Lutheran Church, Gatzke, MN. He was employed as a plumber/pipefitter at Lee Plumbing and Heating, Thief River Falls. He also worked as a pipefitter foreman for Lunseth Plumbing and Heating at Grand Forks, ND.
He held membership in United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters, Local #126. He liked to read, fish, hunt, camp, boat, guide on Lake of the Woods, help with Boy Scouts and anything that involved outdoor activities. He was a member of the Abundant Life Lutheran Church and served as a church usher.
Survived by wife, Borghild; 3 children, Byron Philmore Nilson and Darrel Craig Nilson and Sylvia Lenay (Corey) Rude; 4 grandchildren, Erik Nilson, Aaron Nilson, Dia Rude and Alex Rude and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, brothers, Elving, Holger and Willis Nilson and sister-in-law, Alma Nilson.
