HAROLD OEN DIES AT HOME
IN EXCEL; RITES YESTERDAY
Harold Oen passed away at his home in Excel township on Thursday, July 24 at the age of 69 years, 10 months, and 23 days. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, July 30 at 2 p. m. from the Satersdal Lutheran church, of which he was a member. Rev. Ostby of Grygla officiated and interment was made in the church cemetery.
Mr. Oen was born on August 31, 1871 in Ness, Aadalen, Norway. In 1888 he came to North Dakota and the following year entered into business with his brother, Rasmus Oen. In 1904 he homesteaded in Saskatchewan, Canada, and in 1938 he returned here to Excel Township where he has since made his home.
He was married on June 28, 1897 in Thief River Falls to Anna Elise Bjorge, who survives him. Also surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Mable Foulkes of Densmore, Sask., Canada, Mrs. Lena Odegaard of MacRorre, Sask., Canada, Mrs. Alice Kenney of Adger Township, Miss Emma Oen of Anerly, Sask., Canada, and Miss June Oen at home; six sons, Henry of Agder Township, Oscar of Pontiac, Mich., George and Stanley at home, and Arthur and Roy of Anerly, Sask., Canada; one sister, Mrs. Gunhild Haugrud of Honefos, Norway; and sixteen grandchildren.
