Janet Margaret Oestreich, 62, Bemidji, died Friday, May 14, 1999, at North Country Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were at Calvary Lutheran Church.
She was born Oct. 5, 1936, in Stephen to Bernhardt and Alice (Anderson) Dammann. She was raised and educated in Stephen where she graduated from high school in 1954. She received her nurses training in Grand Forks and worked as a registered nurse. She lived in Fargo from 1958-1960, then moved back to Grand Forks where she lived 1962-1968. In 1969 she moved to Bemidji where she has lived since. She was married to James Oestreich and they had two children. While in Bemidji she worked as a volunteer at Beltrami Nursing Home and the Humane Society. She enjoyed baking.
Survivors include her daughter, Jill Goehring, Bemidji; one son, Jay Oestreich, Lincoln, Neb.; a sister, Virginia Dammann, Fergus Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Dammann.
